Halloween Party at School

I am loving not working - okay so, I have one more week, but seriously people!!! I got to go to Harrison's school party today since I'm the room mommy. It was so amazing to see how they all follow instruction so well - they sit together, eat together, say their prayers together, throw their plates away, then lie down on their nap mats together. I am always in shock that they can get 2 year olds to follow directions. The twin boys were absent today, so once again, Harrison was the only stud muffin amongst all girls. The teachers told me that there is one little boy in the other classroom who is Harrison's best bud - today they played chase on the playground!

We are boring in the Halloween department, not because of Mama or Daddy, but because Mr. Harrison will NOT wear his lion costume (his favorite animal), or his fireman costume. So, I returned the lion outfit, and put him in the same dang thing he wore last year. It was a feat getting the vest on him this morning, but he was happy once we told him he could take "Bubba" to school with him. 2 year olds... :0

Most of the costumes were off and aside by 1115am!

Hi MommyLand

Good to see you again!

I resigned from my part time job last week- Mommyland it is! YAY!

It's just what we do....

While we continue to busy ourselves, there is nothing that can replace our evening routine. On the days that we actually get to eat together, and are all 3 home for the remainder of the night, there never seems to be a dull moment. We're either playing "Lion" - Harrison is the baby, etc, etc. Or, we're acting silly together, as you can see in the video below.

Harrison's Grandma and Grandpa Slye went to Hawaii for a long vacation and brought back a ukulele for him! In the video, David is desperately trying to capture an audience, but Harrison just keeps running, flapping his arms up and down... over, and over, and over again.

Playtime!

Harrison has been wearing me out! At 2 he's hard to keep up with and loves being outside splashing in any water he can find or rolling around in any dirt available.

A week ago, I took him to the doctor for his 2 year check up - no shots thankgoodness! We were all caught up on vaccinations and he only did the flu nasal mist! yay! He's growing like a weed!

Playing hard at the park - one of Harrison's favorite requests! Dirt on his face and rocks in his shoes to take home!

Train ride at the zoo... we are members so i don't even take my camera anymore, but we've been going a few times a month. we're anxiously awaiting the african forest grand opening! I am now able to see everything we want and avoid the stinky cages (which totally make me gag), and get out of there by lunch! Never thought i'd be a zoo dweller!! :) motherhood!

In Due Season!

David and I patiently waited the summer through to see what God had in store for us. We'd lost 3 babies since April and were instructed to wait a month and begin fertility treatments. In the month we were supposed to be "waiting," I became pregnant. After weeks of anxiety, I heard the heartbeat, and have recently seen feet and hands!! It is truly a miracle and has taught me so much about my faith! There was no explanation for my 5 miscarriages (all tests were perfect), but I do have one myself - there is someone else who knows, more than I do, what my plans are!

My due date falls 2 days before my Mom's 60th birthday! So, she'll obviously be celebrating holding a new Grandbaby in Houston!!! :) And, weirdly enough, 2 of my really close girlfriends here in Houston are due 3 days after me - on the same day!!! (I can't name names yet!) But unfortunately, I am going to miss standing beside my dear friend Erin at the altar on her wedding day. Her wedding is May 21st and my due date in May 15th. I already asked my pediatrician and he will absolutely not allow a newborn to fly at 6 days old. :(

Fall is here!

We've had GREAT weather the past 3 weeks. I felt like I was sitting on a porch on S. Adams Street in Mayberry (Lisa's neighborhood in Denver). :)

Below are some pics from Dewberry Farm. It was so stinking hot, dusty, and dirty when we went, but Harrison still had fun. And David and I had a blast people watching - there were some total characters out there. Seriously - why would you ever dress your child up in pants and a long sleeve Halloween shirt in 95 degree weather, just to get a PICTURE with a dang pumpkin? All these poor children were decked out wintery Halloween clothes, with red cheeks and sweat dripping down their faces! Aww!

OINK

I don't think the rollers felt too good to David! :)

Harrison's 2nd Birthday Party

We had a great week celebrating and welcomed October with a wild and crazy train birthday party at Harrison's favorite place: Gymboree! My parents and Andy flew in from Griffin Saturday morning to join in on the festivities. Unfortunately, David's parents are in Hawaii for a few weeks (I am soooo jealous!).

The day of the party was great - it's so easy to have a party at Gymboree so there wasn't a whole lot of prep besides normal party stuff. But, Harrison got so excited seeing his party favors and train cake, not to mention the fact we kept talking about his Gymboree Birthday Party, that he did not take a nap. I left him in his crib for an hour and a half and he was chatty cathy most of the time he was in there. He never even cried, just chatted away and threw everything out of his crib a few times, then yelled for his paci anc baybay (blanket). When I finally went to pick him up he looked at me and said "ICE CREAM!" (Anything sweet is "Ice Cream")

The whole gang!

Harrison can't quite get the blowing part down... he blows air, yes, but the air goes UP instead of out. That bottom lip is totally in the way!

Keep trying!

Almost!

Our week of birthdays!

Happy Birthday SleepyHead!

Harrison on his way to school!

Getting his flirt on...

Granpa and Granma gave Harrison a new kitchen! Grandpa set it up the morning David and I left for Napa, and they played with it all weekend long!

My actual birthday was spent at the Zoo and the Park. With the mild 70degree weather, and a happy 2 year old, I could not have asked for a better day!

Climbing with my buddies!

Harrison's teachers made him this hat at school. He shares a birthday with a little girl named Tinsley. When I dropped Harrison off this past Thursday, we were about 5 minutes late and the children were already in their music class. But, nothing kept Tinsley from jumping up and bolting to see her "boyfriend" - not even music class! I'm not sure if Harrison feels the same about Tinsley, though.. he totally hid behind my leg!

Going to dinner for Mama's birthday

Joanne and Daniel in Napa - GORGEOUS bride and gorgeous wedding at a private vineyard.

Kevin (Joanne's Dad) and Joanne

The reception area - everything from a 5 course dinner, a cheese/fruit/port/brandy table, signature drinks, flip flops for the ladies, to a photographer ready to take your funny picture with props! They didn't forget anything!

Birthday Weekend in Napa - a nice dinner at Bistro Jeanty, wonderful weather, sleeping in until 9am!!!! And an amazing hubby to share it with!

Busy September!

Where does the time go? I have snapped a few pics over the last few weeks with my terrible I phone camera.... I think my Nikon probably feels a big neglected at this point! It's just been too crazy!

A few highlights from September thus far:
- Harrison is loving preschool. He's absolutely thriving in his little class of 8. There are 5 girls and 3 boys. The other 2 boys are twins and leave before lunch, so Harrison is with his 5 "girlfriends" until I pick him up around 2pm! David and I attended a wonderful parent dinner Thursday night and Harrison's teachers told us some funny stories about him. Supposedly all the girls make him sit down and "serve" him "dinner" from the play kitchen. Then they all feed each other!!! The teachers said the girls just dote over Harrison. I know he's just loving it... this is probably a good reason why he doesn't even look back when I drop him off in the mornings!!! We are seriously so pleased with this wonderful school. Last week they flew a music/story teller down from NY to be with each class individually. In addition, Harrison is getting a motor skills class, music class, and art class each week. David is so excited about the motor skills class and specifically asked the retired PE teacher to work on throwing the football next week!

- David had a wonderful guys weekend this past weekend in Austin. The MBA guys did fantasy football, played poker, went to the UT game, and hung out at an amazing house near Lake Travis all weekend. And today, David and Harry went to the Texans game! Ofcourse the 1 time Daddy isn't home, Harrison decides to be "that toddler" at lunch on Saturday. I was so embarrassed as he raked his hand across the table, sending food flying. After this long weekend, I made it abundantly clear to David that he really owes me that Louis Vuitton I have been eyeing for a few months. :)

- As for my crazy schedule... I took on repping for a darling clothing line called Hannah Kate with another Mom from my neighborhood. We worked on this all week and still have to pack up the clothes. The clothes are so precious that they sell themselves, but it was just a big time commitment! I'm tired! In addition, I have beeen working so hard on the Holy Strollers Moms Group at church, as i'm social chair this year. Our church is St. Martin's Episcopal Church and is 8,000 strong, so our mom's group is 400 moms! We have so much fun stuff planned, and have been so busy with the newsletter, stuffing envelopes, etc. It's just been a crazy few weeks... and Jr. League is about to ramp up, so it's going to get even crazier!! But, David and I are headed to Napa for a weekend at the end of September, so that will be a great little reprieve!

I LOVE ICE CREAM

AND FROZEN YOGURT! Now that I've been doing "Deceptively Delicious," I do feel a lot better about the veggies that Harrison's consuming and have been a little more lenient on frozen yogurt and ice cream! And today at the Ministry Fair at church, he even had his first Reece's cup! (it was gone in 2 shakes)

Totally obsessed with machinery.

The wedding of the century!!!

My bestest friend from childhood got married this weekend in Atlanta. After months and months of planning, her wedding weekend was seamless and stunning. She was the most gorgeous bride ever and I was honored to stand under the chuppah with her!
