Galveston Island

After months of David preparing for the Series 79, and 2 weekends of endless re-landscaping, I decided it was time to pick up and head to Galveston for a relaxing weekend at a resort called Pointe West! Our condo was fabulous - Harrison slept in a big boy bed the whole weekend and did great. We enjoyed the beautiful ocean view, but the highway of seaweed left a lot to be desired during our "beach outings!" (They are supposed to scrape the seaweed, but were waiting on a permit?!!) Regardless of the seaweed, Harrison loved collecting shells and chasing birds. We spent a lot of time at the beach club in the hot tub - well, at least my feet got to spend time in the hot tub - didn't want to overcook baby #2! :) It was a great weekend away and we're looking forward to a wonderful Easter weekend ahead.

3 1/2 weeks until baby arrives - name still TBD... we are narrowing it down, though - progress!!!

Can you tell who had the most fun flying the kite????

DINO!

"Okay, you run with it, Harrison, and I will fly it." hmmmm.... no wonder Harrison lost interest after 5 minutes! haha!

Harrison LOVES his Daddy - and had him all to himself for a full weekend - the first time in a while from Daddy's very busy travel schedule at work and weekend schedule of "to-do" lists from Mommy!!! ;)

Looking for shells!

Visit from Lisa, Brunch with friends, Fun around town

Brunch at Brennans!
Lisa and myself - I was SO sad to see her go... it was too short, but it meant the WORLD to have her fly in from CO to visit! Miss you Mama!

Adrienne, myself, and Lindsey - we were sad that Rebecca, Amy, and Adrienne S had to miss out on the fun, but ate enough for all of them!!!

My sweet girlfriends took me to brunch Saturday to celebrate the little life in my tummy. We met at one of Houston's best restaurants, where I was treated to a 3 course brunch, ending in my all time favorite - a SOUFFLE!!! I was so stuffed that I couldn't even eat dinner and was still full the next morning! Lisa flew in from Denver to celebrate and to bring her new addition - Jacob Ryan Zorn, who is 4 months old and the spitting image of his big brother, Nathan. I honestly felt like I had hit "rewind" while I was with him! Harrison was amazing around him - bringing him "baby toys" and always wanting to hold him. He loved having another little one in the house and constantly was asking, "where's the baby?" He's getting so excited about having a little brother, but I think he might be a little sad that his little brother is going to come out teeny tiny compared to a 4 month old chunky monkey like Jacob!! (Oh, those rolls - I am SO ready for baby season again!) We LOVED having Lisa and Jacob to visit and miss the Zorns sooo much.... :(

I felt a little like I was at Benihana's with the hat on!!! hehe!
The souffle was TO DIE FOR!
Harrison LOVING playing with baby Jacob
So proud to be holding a baby!

Harrison continues to be the busy 2.5yr old that he always has been, but I'm REALLY struggling to keep up with him these days. With only a MONTH to go, I am not the best playmate in the world and I've totally been outsted from the "fun mommy" position into the "coddling mommy" position, taking care of booboos from falls, molars, and bad colds, and rubbing backs ALL NIGHT LONG when fever strikes (this weekend - fun stuff). Yesterday, when Harrison put his Jeep in TURBO, I ran as fast as I could to keep up with him, but eventually had to nix the turbo after I realized I was about to go into Labor on the side of the road- talk about Party Pooper Mom!!! :) So, it's been an adjustment having an extra appendage and a 2.5 yr old little boy - hopefully Fun Mommy will make another appearance in a few months!!!! I guess for now, I am going to have to be okay with being #2 choice for playmate?! A hard realization to make....
Riding a HORSE, not a pony!

"pirate Harrison" or "superboy" depending on the day - the mask got left at school, when he demanded to wear it in....
Monthly package from Grandaddy and Gran - "Bubba" and "Mono"
Mama with her sweet boy (who is such a little boy now and is sure to give attitude when least expected!)

Busy Bee

Harrison has been quite the busy 2 1/2 year old. We've made trips to the zoo, fed the ducks, had lots of fun playdates, went swimming, went to gymnastics class, and played our hearts out at the park. Mommy is exhausted, but for some reason Harrison has decided he doesn't need a nap anymore. It's been a "trying" few weeks in the nap department- I am in the process attempting to reorg his schedule after re-reading several good sleep books and talking with some friends. Keep your fingers crossed this is just a (long) stage!!! David passed his Series 79 Exam with flying colors and celebrated with several awesome margaritas!!! We are so glad he's finished studying, but our weekends have not slowed at all. While I hosted a church picnic last weekend, David played in a fun basketball tourney with some friends (all nearing or over 40). Two of the 12 went home with torn ACLs and the rest were in bed with heating pads the rest of the weekend!!! We did squeeze in a good date night with friends though! This weekend, David, Harry, and the yard man hit the beds outside to revamp our landscaping! Thanks to several hard freezes this year, many plants are still brown! We're hoping to have a weekend of doing absolutely NOTHING soon, but with the baby coming in less than 6 weeks, we're trying to squeeze in everything possible!!! Daddy turned me onto Grape Soda and I LOVE it at the park!!!
Cleaning off my favorite summer toy!

Harrison LOVES music. Harrison LOVES horses and cowboy hats. So when I told him about "cowboy music," he wanted no other!! See below for 3 short clips of Harrison jamming to Big Head Todd, Tim, and Kenny!!! He now requests his cowboy music on every ride.... hey, it's either country music or the dang "Elmo Shapes and Colors" DVD that I'm about to throw out the window!!!! ;)

Harrison and his Harem

I forgot it was class photo day, so Harrison is just in a Tee and shorts, but the pic is cute of the class regardless! Harrison's favorite lady friend is Vivian, who is standing next to him. She does a great job bossing him around in the kitchen from what I hear. He talks incessantly about Bella (far left) and Tinsley (in the grey outfit) and we are sure to pray for them every night. He's big buddies with his little friends, Ryan and Tyler, who were absent this day - lucky Harrison, getting all the women to himself!

Out and About...

Trying to remember to take my camera places/take photos in general... getting tired, so the photos are a bit random... We've been very busy lately enjoying this gorgeous weather and even went swimming today!

On the way to school
I heard Harrison rummaging through the maid's pile (spring cleaning), and he said "Oooo, Cowboy Hat," so I went to see what he was talking about...

Harrison had such a BLAST at Luke's birthday party this weekend, I had to pop out my camera and take some pictures for our possible future 3rd or 4th bday location since David was unable to attend this one with us.

He got to feed HORSES!

Canadian Cowboy....

Harrison in my glasses circa 1999 (the lenses have long fallen out...)

Hanging with Gran

We had a great week with my Mom in from Griffin. She helped me finish getting organized for the baby (who arrives in exactly 8 weeks!). It was nice having her in town during Harrison's spring break - we took advantage of this big city and went to the Natural Science Museum, Herman Park, and the Rodeo. It was a sad day dropping her off at the airport. Harrison kept going in the guest room the next day, expecting her to reappear! Ofcourse, I was wishing the same thing!!!

Rodeo Fun:

"Harrison rides Bubba, Gran rides Mono"

Chooo Choooo!

Museum of Natural Science - we went solely to see the dino bones, as Harrison is obsessed with ALL animals, including dinosaurs!

He was completely mesmerized by the TRex

"Tops" is probably his second favorite dino, after TRex!

March is here - 2 months until Baby Slye #2 arrives!

On the way to the shower... Harrison doesn't bathe, and hasn't for months! He's a shower man - the bench is the perfect height to line up his animals and give them a bath!

David and I celebrated our 5th anniversary Saturday night!

The BEST 1 year old birthday cake EVER! It stood 2 feet tall! Happy birthday to sweet Cooper!

Cooper's birthday party at the zoo!

A fine get-up, created by Harrison himself.

A trip to watch the horse and wagons pull into Memorial Park began with an hour long nap for Taylor and Harrison!

Watching the riders come in from Brazoria County - they rode 190 miles to the Rodeo!

Finding his own horse to ride... geez, this child LOVES horses!

We are ALL ABOUT marching these days...

Growing tall and lanky - signs of my toddler disappearing make me sad... :( Harrison is becoming such a little boy. He involuntarily tells me he loves me all the time, in addition to randomly thanking me for lunch/dinner. After 2 years of not getting any "thank yous" for changing poopy diapers or wiping spit up, these little acts of becoming a "person" capable of expressing emotions melt a Mommy's heart.

Marching - and falling, then acting like a typical man!! :) (they need so much attention, don't they?!)

Riding Bubba - this is something we do everyday... harrison on Bubba and me on Merlin (the dang broomstick).
