5 Days Old!

We had a wonderful weekend at home with family. Clark is a great baby and we are so pleased that he's not colicky like his sweet brother was. (I really hope that didn't just jinx me!) Mom and Dad left this morning and we all were so sad to see them go. They were such a big help. We celebrated Mom's 60th last night with a delicious dinner and chocolate cake!

Clark Lancaster Slye has arrived!!

David, Harrison, and I are so happy to announce the birth of Clark Lancaster Slye. On the evening of May 10th, I was sure my water had broken. We called my doctor around midnight, who told us to come on in (she had just delivered another baby). David called his parents to come in and spend the night with Harrison and while we waited on them, my contractions started. When we arrived at the hospital, I found out that my water HAD NOT broken like I had thought, but indeed, I was in full-fledged labor! My labor progressed very fast over the next few hours and after less than 10 minutes of true "laboring," our little sweetheart was born at 6:17am on May 11th! We were stunned to see the scale - 7lbs 9oz and 19.5 inches, exactly what his brother weighed and measured 2 1/2 years ago.

My Mom and Dad arrived to the West Houston Airport later that afternoon and David's parents and Harrison picked them up, then all headed down to meet Clark together. It was an incredibly special moment to see Harrison meet his little brother - one that I will never forget, already filled with so much brotherly love. Harrison has been an angel and has really adapted very well to the changes thus far.

We were released from the hospital a day early to go home and be with big brother and family. We are so thankful to have both sets of parents helping out. Audrey and Harry were amazing, driving over in the middle of the night to stay with Harrison, then entertaining him the entire day after Clark was born, until he got to finally meet his little brother! My parents have been incredible, by being my "night nannies" so I can get a little sleep in between feeds. While Clark is a VERY good baby, I am such a light sleeper and wake to all the little baby noises during the night. They've also been preparing all meals, shopping, cleaning, entertaining, etc. - amazing help! So, I'm enjoying a little shut-eye while I can before they fly back home, which will probably be on Monday. (I can't have Mom tired on her 60th birthday on Tuesday!!!)

Clark is named after both of his Grandmothers - both Audrey and Jackie's maiden name is Clark - and his Uncle Collin Lancaster Slye, who we miss incredibly and wish was here to meet his nephews.

Big Boy Bed!

A few weeks ago, we moved Harrison into this cute little toddler bed that a friend of mine gave us. It's a great transition for Harrison since he loved his crib so much! He really likes his bed and his bedding came in this week, which makes it all the more fun to nap and sleep in! I'm so thankful for this little bed so I can hold off decorating his "little boy" room until we move into a bigger house sometime in the next year, after the baby is born.

Mother's Day!!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there! We had a great day - a wonderful church sermon from our priest, a delicious lunch at Masraff's, a great nap, and hose fights ending in dinner and wine on our back patio.

Still no sign of impending labor, but we do have a name... Clark Lancaster Slye! Clark is for both of his grandmothers (Audrey and Jackie's maiden names are both Clark), and Lancaster is for his Uncle Collin Lancaster Slye, who we miss so much all the time.

I am so thankful to be Harrison and Clark's Mommy, and David's wife. Life could not get any better!

Baby Update

Almost 39 weeks!

No baby yet! But, we're a week and a half away! My head cold turned into an infection early this week, so I've started on a Z-pack. I'm hoping to kick it by the weekend, although I am still not able to hear out of 1 ear because of a blocked Eustachian tube.

Harrison and David have been wonderful in helping out. I overheard David telling Harrison Monday morning that they needed to be quiet to let Mommy sleep. Harrison replied, "Daddy, we need to help Mommy today." Ofcourse, that melted my heart. He is so intuitive and knows that something is about to happen, as he gives me many, many kisses every day while telling me how much he loves me. He's become quite snugly and very mindful and agreeable... "okay, Mommy... Yes, ma'am, Mommy."

Harry and Audrey continue to take Harrison on his weekly Wednesday outing to their house. He has so much fun and it gives me a 1/2 a day to go to my OB, run errands, or sleep (like I did yesterday). I am a lucky Mama to have them so close.

We're hanging close to home right now - a few activities planned and daily trips to the gym, but that's it. Keep your fingers crossed my head cold subsides before this little guy comes along!

Hello, May!

A lot happens in May - My Grandmother turns 91 this Wednesday, my Mom turns 60 on the 17th, school is out for summer, Mother's Day is coming up, and Baby Slye #2 is DUE! May is always an incredibly busy month, but we're in waiting mode for the baby right now. I have officially completed my Jr. League committment for the year, I have scheduled and planned my last big event for my Moms Group, and have wrapped up/delegated year end room mom/school activites. Whew! Now to just make it through the daily chores and committments of wife-dom and motherhood.... while being big as a house!

I have really tried not to complain much about how uncomfortable I am, or how my sciatica is shooting pain down my legs, because I honestly am just thankful to be pregnant and having a child. BUT, come on already. With less than 2 weeks, I am officially as ready as I'll be - final touches will be made on the nursery throughout the month of June - curtains, headboard, and paintings are all a work in progress as we speak. But, everything else is READY! I am now trying to sit back, relax, and let this thing happen!

We cancelled our dinner date night with friends because of a head cold that I came down with Friday - instead, David took Harrison to Toys R Us and bought a few fun games. Remember this Go Fish game from when we were little? I LOVED it and was so excited when they came home with it - this is what my Saturday night consisted of!

To cool for school.... but, at least now he knows not to put the dang thing in turbo - you would have died if you'd seen me chasing/waddling after him a few weeks ago when he was going mock-10 down our street.

The fun part was stomping the divets and petting the horses between games!

He is Risen!

We had a wonderful week full of hunts and candy-binging. (I am pretty sure this week pushed me very close to the 30lb weight gain mark!!) The Easter Bunny was very good to Harrison Sunday morning. It's on video, and I won't bore you with the 6 minutes that it took for Harrison to carefully and meticulously sort through his basket. If there is one personality trait that has been constant from the beginning - Harrison does things at his own pace - from my labor consisting of 3 hours of hard pushing (he just wasn't ready yet and came out looking more cone head than the average baby), to taking 45 minutes to eat lunch if I'd let him. This child loves to string things out!!

Harrison had an adorable Easter breakfast then hunt at school on Thursday. We had several hunts Saturday, then Mom and Dad arrived that afternoon from Georgia. We all met Audrey and Harry at our church for Easter Sunday service, where our sweet priest was sure to give me 1 full wafer in one hand and a 1/2 of another in the other hand (for my extra appendage, obviously!!). After church, our clan headed to Brenners on the Bayou for a wonderful brunch and another Easter Egg Hunt. I loved seeing the elation and excitement for Harrison when he was first out of the gate, trying so hard to gather more eggs than anyone, but being so polite and sharing his loot with other children.

We didn't get a group photo on my camera - my friend Natalie has it - so one more pic to add eventually!

So excited - first out of the gate!

Still not so fond of Easter Bunny or Santa...

Last hunt of the year - Mommy is swollen and pooped and ready for nap time! 2 1/2 weeks to go!

Mom and Dad stayed until Tuesday morning and helped immensely. I finally got a nursery going for the new baby. This is SO not like me, but he finally has a place to sleep!!! :) I have placed an order for art work with my fabulously talented father-in-law, and am in the process of ordering several other items. The nursery might be finished by the time he's 2 months?! ;) We also moved Harrison into his toddler bed this weekend and he loves it!

Monkey Face! Harrison loves goofing off with my point and shoot camera, so i ordered one for him "from" the baby - it actually has an SD card and everything! Thank you Lisa for the awesome suggestion - he is going to go bananas!
